Growth

The Nature element ability. Place any monster from your hand onto the target cell, covered and for free.

Growth

Nature Element

Only Nature cards can carry Growth arrows. See Elements for the full element overview.

How it Works

When you trigger a Growth ability arrow, you take any monster from your hand — any element, any cost — and place it face-down (covered) on the target cell. You never pay its cost. This is not a deferred payment: Growth bypasses the cost entirely.

A Growth-placed card is different from a normally covered card. It has specific protection rules and its own destruction conditions.

Growth places a covered card (turn 1). It stays covered until another effect interacts with it.

Rules

  • Take any monster card from your hand (any element, any cost) and place it covered on the target cell. No cost is ever paid for this card — Growth bypasses cost entirely.
  • The target cell must be empty.
  • A Growth-placed covered card cannot be destroyed by a single normal arrow. Normal flip mechanics do not apply to it.
  • A Growth-placed card can only be destroyed by:
    • Remove
    • Firestorm dealing at least 1 point of damage
    • Being the landing cell of a Shockwave push (a card is pushed onto its cell)
  • A Growth-placed card can be moved by Shockwave (pushed), Swap, and Magnetism. Its protection applies to direct destruction, not to movement.
